Sulaiman: You people continue to weep for Imam Husain (a.s.) on Ashoora and other days of martyrdom.
Ja’far: Weeping within the limits of Shariat is meritorious and acceptable as mentioned in the Quranic Ayats:
“And that is He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep;” (Surah Najm 53:43)
It is said that Prophet Yaqoob (a.s.) wept so much for his son Yusuf (a.s.) that the pupils of his eyes became white.
“And he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Yusuf! And his eyes become white on account of the grief,” (Surah Yusuf 12:84)
The Prophet (s.a.) himself wept on many occasions.
It is related from Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet said, “Zaid took over the flag and was martyred. Then it was taken by Jafar who was martyred as well. Then Abdullah bin Rawaha took the flag but he too was martyred,” and at that time the eyes of Allah’s Apostle were full of tears.
(Sahih Bukhari Volume 2, Hadith 338)
He (s.a.) also wept for Imam Husain (a.s.) on various occasions. For example, on the day Husain (a.s.) was born. And whenever the he (s.a.w.s.) prophesied the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s.).
Zainab binte Jahash the wife of Prophet (s.a.w.a.w.s.) narrates:
One day the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s) was in my house and Husain (a.s.) was also there. For some moments I forgot about him. He entered into the Prophet’s room. I tried to pick him up but the Messenger of Allah restrained me. Then he stood up to perform the prayers while holding Husain (a.s.) in his arms. When he went into ruku (bending in genuflection) or sajdah (prostration) he put down Husain (a.s.) and again took him in his arms when he stood up. Then he sat down and wept. When he finished his prayers I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Today I have seen you do something that I had never seen before.”
He said, “Jibraeel came to me and informed me that this Husain (a.s.) will be killed by my ummat (people).”
(Mustadrakul Sahihain, 4:398)
He then showed me the soil of the place of his martyrdom. He gave me (a handful of) red dust.”
Moreover, we find that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s) himself wept on the dead and the martyrs. On various occasions he wept upon graves. He wept on the illness of Sa’d bin Ubadah and on the death of his son Ibrahim, and on his beloved grandson Imam Husain (a.s.). The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) wept on the martyrdom of his uncle Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib andthe martyrs of the Battle of Muta. He lamented the martyrdom of his cousin Ja’far ibne Abi Talib. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) was seen weeping on the grave of his beloved mother. Abu Hurairah says, “The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s) visited the grave of his mother and wept; and all those with him (also) wept.”
Proof from Quranic Ayat
[12:84] And he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Yusuf! and his eyes became white on account of the grief, and he was a repressor (of grief).
[ 12:85] They said: By Allah! you will not cease to remember Yusuf until you are a prey to constant disease or (until) you are of those who perish.
[5:83]And when they hear what has been revealed to the messenger you will see their eyes overflowing with tears on account of the truth that they recognize; they say: Our Lord! we believe, so write us down with the witnesses (of truth).
[17:107] Say: Believe in it or believe not; surely those who are given the knowledge before it fall down on their faces, making obeisance when it is recited to them.
[17:108] And they say: Glory be to our Lord! most surely the promise of our Lord was to be fulfilled.
[17:109]And they fall down on their faces weeping, and it adds to their humility.
[9:82] Therefore they shall laugh little and weep much as a recompense for what they earned.
In the name of Allah the Beneficient, the Merciful
Peace be on you, O the son of the Messenger of Allah!
Peace be on you, O the son of the Ameer ul Moomineen!
Peace be on you, O the son of the truthful pure Fatimah, the leader of the women of the worlds!
Peace be on you, O my Mawlaa! O Aba Abdillah, and the mercy and blessings of Allah!
I bear witness that you established the prayers, gave the prescribed share to the needy, commanded to do that which is right and lawful, not to do that which is wrong and unlawful, studied and cherished the ideas of the Book as ought to be, strived in the way of Allah, leaving no stone unturned, while directing affairs in the light of the boundaries laid down by Allah, exercised self-control bravely in the midst of offensive provocations, till the inevitable came unto you.I bear witness that those who opposed you and waged war against you, those who abandoned you, and those who killed you, are the accursed as per the declaration of the Prophet whom no one gave lessons. Verily, whoso tells a lie is a loser.
Curse of Allah be on those who persecuted you, from among the pioneers and the followers, ever growing tormenting punishment.
I have come to you O my Mawlaa the son of the Messenger of Allah, for your “ziyaarat”, fully aware of your rights, closely attached to your friends, hostile to your enemies, attentive and alive to the guidance which you had and made known, mindful of the waywardness which leads to your opposition, so, speak on my behalf to your Lord.
Peace be on you, O the decisive argument of Allah on His earth and in His heaven. Blessings of Allah be on your refined soul and pure body, and peace be on you, O my Mawlaa also mercy and blessings of Allah.
Mujraee Mehmaan pyasa reh gaya.
Sab huay sairab tujh say ay Furat,
Qafila Yasrab ka pyasa reh gaya.
Es qadar tha khushk Asghar ka galaa,
Khanjar-e-qatil bhi pyasa reh gaya.
Dagmaga kar jab giray ghoday say Sheh,
Kaanp kar Arsh-e-moalla reh gaya.
Jab huvi beparda Aulaad-e-Rasool[PBUH],
Phir jahan mein kis ka parda reh gaya?
Faiz tha be-pardagee ka Aal ki,
Hum gunahgaaron ka parda reh gaya.
Sovo gay kab tak bas ab utho Anis,
Din bohot ghaflat mein thoda reh gaya.
(One of the saddest marsiyas ever by the legendary Mir Anis)
Zaynab bint Ali quoted as she passed the body of her brother, Husayn.
“O Muhammad! O Muhammad! May the angels of heaven bless you. Here is Husayn in the open, stained with blood and with limbs torn off. O Muhammad! Your daughters are prisoners, your progeny are killed, and the east wind blows dust over them.”
By God! She made every enemy and friend weep.

LOL! This one really made me laugh. Though I shouldn’t be laughing in Muharram.
Beautiful Poem-There is no life without Hussain(as) recited By Ali Khalkhali.
There is No Life Without Hussein
By: Sayed Ali Al-Mousawi Al-Khalkhali
There is no life without Hussein,
How can we live without Hussein,
Our holy land is Karbala,
The whole world is within Azaa,
There is no life without Hussein; There is no life without Hussein.
***
Hussein you are, light of my eyes,
And with your name, I start to rise,
And then I start to shed a tear,
For what occurred Hussein my dear.
Hussein before, I go to sleep,
I start to cry, I start to weep,
And then I face your holy shrine,
So you’ll forgive me of my crime.
***
I am ready, to go through pain,
As long as I am with Hussein,
To be with you is all I want,
Hussein Hussein, I’ll always chant.
Hussein I am, now so proud,
To shout your name, to shout aloud,
Hussein your name, is in my heart,
From it your name, shall not depart.
***
From birth to death, I shall insist,
That I love you, I shall persist,
You are my guide, you are the light,
You show me the path, which is right
I’m not afraid, I am not shy,
To shout your name, until I die,
For what I know, is that you are,
The greatest man, the brightest star.
***
Upon the highest, ranks you are,
You are the brightest, brightest star,
Within your ranks, I wish I stood,
But now my life, for you I put.
Upon my heart, your name has set,
Your name I shall, never forget,
No matter how much, they hit,
With your lovers, I want to sit.
***
I hope with you, I can remain,
For your path is, a narrow lane,
For your path is the most straight,
You shall guide us to the right gate.
If my life ever, terminates,
Make sure before, I see Hussein,
For we’ll ask him, to intercede,
For every bad and evil deed.
***
Your holy land, I really miss,
When would I come, to see and kiss,
The golden dome, the golden shrine,
Would there ever, be any time.
When you place me within the grave,
Pour in my mouth Turbat Hussein,
So in the night Hussein arrives,
And takes my soul on the best of rides
Oh world I have one final will,
Upon my grave, to just stand still,
And recite the, salutations,
Upon Hussein, the Salvation
***
There is no life without Hussein,
How can we live without Hussein,
Our holy land is Karbala,
The whole world is within Azaa,
There is no life without Hussein; There is no life without Hussein.

I posted this in Muharram last year.
I didn’t want to but it can’t be helped. I have to go to a school to counsel 300 children in 2 days. Yes, 300 children in 2 days and it’s just me and another psychologist friend.
